Frustrations...

So today is supposed to be the last day of my journey, but it's not. I'm gonna keep going with my Italian courses and keep learning because we all know that two weeks to learn a language is not enough. I just barely learned the basics in these two weeks. But I still consider that to be a lot. Of course, along the way, there are things that I forgot and certain words that I will forget. After all, I can't remember everything. Learning takes time, patience, dedication and determination. I guess that to continue learning italian I'll have to work on my patience... It takes a whole lot of it to not get frustrated and just throw your computer across the room... Trust me, I almost did it a couple of times when I did the lesson with verbs. But it was expensive so I had to contain myself. But there were those moments when when I completely aced something and I felt like dancing around my room(I did) and singing at the top of my lungs(I did). Then the moments at the end where I see how many points I got and feel proud of myself for scoring so high. Italian is an easy language to pick up, mostly because of some words that I already know from being around Italians most my life. But I also feel like it's a language really close to the ones that I already speak which is what makes it easy to pick up. Through this learning process, I've learned that I REALLY need to be more patient and take my time with things, and that some things just can't be rushed because if they are, then you're not really accomplishing anything. So, I'm going to keep learning, and keep getting better.

C & G

Still at the beginner level... this is going to take a while...
Pronouncing the letters C and G in Italian is kinda different from English but pretty easy get the hang of. Now, I just have to work on my accent which --I believe-- is getting pretty good. The thing is, I'm taking Italian courses online. Which means, that my accent is going to be a little different from the people who actually come from Italia(see what I did there?) I probably won't be able to say certain words the right way, but that's understood, I'm just hoping I'll get better.
So my next lesson is going to be names of drinks and how to order when at a bar,  then I'm going to start working on regular verbs and singular and plural forms. This is French class all over again... except I'm actually enjoying it. Probably cause I love it when my computers robot voice talks, trying to teach me how to pronounce certain words --but no, I'm really having fun with this and I'm hoping I'll get really good, really fast. That's not gonna happen is it?

Marco è italiano

THE FINE ART OF THE GESTURE
Since last Saturday I realized two things: 1- I've been spelling Italian wrong (You can go check, I have no idea how to change it -_-) 2- It will take an extremely long time to understand Italian-- when it's spoken super fast-- and not just stand there nodding my head like a moron. So right now my favorite word in Italian is Scusi (Excuse me) there's actually no particular reason that I like it... I just like the way people say it-- such a fun word(s?)-- I love the accent.
So the program I'm using is teaching me phrases like 'Marco è italiano' except for the fact that I know that Marco is 'italiano' because 98% of VMC is. (I'm just making up my own statistics but I bet I'm close...) So that just says that I've gone far in my lessons but I'm learning the names of countries and other languages and most of them are pretty close to the English names but there are others- like German (tedesco) which really confuse me and that I forget pretty fast. Just gotta keep reviewing.
But out of all these lessons, I find that I really have learned something... Now when people speak Italian around me I can more or less put together what they are saying (maybe its all the hand motions :O Oh no she didn't-- I kid the italians) But it's not far away, and I'm getting closer.

Growing Strong...

So basically, it has been a couple of days since I started taking online Italien lessons and now I'm able to say things like "Come ti chiami?" and "Di dove sei?" not that I'd want to know where you're from, we're here right now aren't we? I've also started conjugating verbs which is weird cause I hate verbs, if I hate them in French I'm pretty sure I'm gonna hate them in Italien too. On top of that I have to constantly review the verbs because if I don't, I'll forget all the pronouns. Like a BOSS. But, I'm able to make small talk now so that's a plus... Good job, Amrit...Why thank you, virtual me...Oh you're welcome physical me...yeah. Soon enough when those Italien grandparents from sixth grade approach me again and start speaking Italien, I'll be able to answer.

Starting Out

After years of being in many schools where the Italien society is dominant, someone like me-- who has absolutely no Italien background-- would want to know what those kids are saying when they say things like 'VAFFANCULO!' Okay, never mind, I know what that means. Everyone does.
Either way, I find Italien to be a beautiful language and would love to add another language to my list of languages. I've always had a knack for languages, after learning Italien, I wanna learn another language-- maybe Russian-- and then go on and on until I feel like it's time to stop- which could be the day I die.  I already know a couple of phrases in Italien and it seems like it's not a really hard language to learn. So here begins my journey, my journey to learn and conquer the language that is Italien. Actually I'm probably not going conquer it. I'll...um...accomplish it? Does that make sense? No? Okay. Arrivederci! (See what I did there? I made it seem like I knew more by saying Arrivederci instead of Ciao.)
